If you are under high levels of stress, you will find that your immue system becomes weakened. Stress affects both your emotions and physical health. Your immune system is actually meant to protect you from foreign bodies that invade your body. When weakened, you become vulnerable to frequent colds and viral infections.

If you find yourself unable to cope with stress, it is important that you do not resort to more pills. Pills can compromise your immune system further. As always, stress reduction techniques, such as hypnotherapy, aromatherapy, and meditation, can be extremely helpful.

Your nutrition is also important to your immune system. Make sure you get plenty of vitamins and nutrients that balance out your body’s needed intake. Try to eat a variety of vegetables and grains, in a riot of colors.

Certain herbs have immunity-enhancing qualities. For instance, Astragalus is a herb that is generally used as a tonic in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is known to restore the immune system, prevent cancer cell growth and help tissue cells regenerate. Specific to the immune system, it increases the white blood cells that help to protect you from foreign invaders.
