Lavender Detox Bath - A Refreshing Way To Skin Cleanse
April 22, 2008 |
For years lavender has been used for bathing. Many people simply want the pleasant smell and relaxation it provides. The good news is that lavender detoxification is a way to skin cleanse and eliminate waste from the body. Some detox methods are less than pleasant, but this is a treat.
The medicinal properties of the herb, lavender, have been used for centuries. The herb acts as a gentle anti-inflammatory agent. This is helpful for the skin and not only improves appearance and smoothness, but helps skin to function at its best.
If you have ever used lavender poultices or sachets, you are probably aware of its antibacterial and antifungal properties. It gives your immune system a kick and eliminates fungus and bacteria. This gives skin a chance to maintain itself and repair itself.
A lavender detox bath should be very hot, as hot as you can stand. The combination of the hot water, steam, and medicinal properties of lavender will improve circulation, clear your nasal passages, and relax your muscles. These factors together allow for ready release of toxins from muscle tissues as well as other cells. A hot bath expands the blood capillaries, which may affect the heart rate.
If you are already overheated or have had a fever, take a lukewarm bath instead. There are still benefits and a cooler bath will help regulate your temperature.
Do not give in to the temptation to take a glass of wine with you into the bathtub. Instead, take a large glass of water to flush the toxins from your system. You may feel weak or dizzy after beginning detox baths because of the toxins being released. Give yourself time to rest and purge your system with plenty of water.
Don’t consider a lavender bath as merely a self indulgence. Consider it as part of your healthful detoxification technique.
