You may not realize that you are having constipation. Perhaps it is because you have become so accustomed to the idea of not having a bowel movement at least once every day. Constipation itself won’t kill you, but it will cause your body to be overworked trying to get out all those toxins stored in your colon. If you ingest a lot of food and waste is not completely eliminated, you will have a choked body system. Eventually those toxins travel through the bloodstream to weakened areas of your body; causing you to develop diseases.

In fact, you can tell when a person is retaining meals by the smell of gas that he or she emits. The smell comes from the food fermenting in your colon that is not being digested properly. Smelly gas also comes from not chewing your food properly. Hence, there is much truth to the advice to “chew your food twenty times before swallowing”. This multiple chewing allows your back teeth to mash the food enough for easier digestion. Properly digested food makes it less difficult for your body to break down.

Those with smelly stools and those who need sit for 20 to 30 minutes on the toilet just to pass stool, have essentially sick colons. Dry stools are difficult to pass. Normal stools should be moist and dark brown. It should take you less than a minute to pass each stool.

Students doing autopsies on cadavers have reported cutting open colons to find black walls full of decayed crud 2 to 3 inches think, some even 4 to 5 inches thick - that is a lot of crud! This black crud on the lining of colons prevents the liquid from passing in or out of the colon when it is that clogged!

Your colon really is an amazing part of the human body. It is very connected to the rest of the body. When the colon is functioning properly, your entire body feels well. However, when the colon is sick, the health of your whole body also breaks down.

A colon massage can help stimulate a more complete evacuation of fecal matter from your body. While you can get this massage done by your colon hydrotherapist or alternative health provider, you can also do it on your own from the comforts of your own room.

Here are the steps for the colon massage:

1. Lie down and use some massage oil or baby oil and lubricate your abdomen.

2. Begin massaging your abdomen on the right side – the same side where your appendix is to be found – and then gently move the tip of your fingers in clockwise, circular motions. You want to move up toward the bottom of your ribcage.

3. When you reach the ribcage, continue massaging your abdomen while moving your hands to the left side. Now move the hands down, all the while massaging.

4. After completing one cycle and if there was no pain associated with the procedure, you may repeat it and apply more pressure this time around.

The importance of doing a colon massage needs to be understood. Perhaps you are not aware that there exists a problem in the position that the average person takes when evacuating fecal matter from the bowels. The position is usually not conducive for a complete elimination. Instead, it permits for a partial voiding of only the most pressing matter. The remainer stays in the intestines until the next bowel movement. It may continue to stay there as the same position is taken. In this instance, a colon massage is said to be extremely helpful.
