If you have itching, burning or discomfort around your anus or in your rectum, you may be having a case of hemorrhoids. A diagnosis for hemorrhoid symptoms is not as easy as it sounds. Unfortunately, many illnesses can be confused with hemorrhoids. There are several tests, which your doctor may need to perform.

Even if you’ve already been through a positive hemorrhoid diagnosis previously, you may consider taking another examination. Hemorrhoids can be accidentally mistaken for something else if you are not careful. Your doctor needs to examine for first by a physical examination of your rectum and anus for signs of distress. Often, hemorrhoids show up as small lumps on the outside of your rectum around your anus.

If no external lumps are visible, then an internal examination becomes necessary. They will begin this process with a lubricated glove, by feeling around inside your rectum for abnormalities. A proctoscope may also be used to check for hemorrhoid symptoms. A proctoscope is a thin tube which has a light source and a camera attached.

If your doctor cannot determine the cause of your problem from those tests, a colonoscopy or a sidmoidoscopy may then be ordered. Those tests will allow viewing of your digestive tract. Additionally, blood or urine testing may also be ordered.

It is important to get the right diagnosis for any health condition that you are having. With the right diagnosis, it is then possible to find the appropriate treatment or solution for it.


Consider changing your diet to ease your . You would first need to consume sufficient fiber to avoid being constipated. It is often the case that constipation and subsequent straining of bowels lead to hemorrhoid symptoms. Fiber helps to regulate your system and ensure bowel movements at more predictable intervals throughout the day. When your have better control over your bowel movements, your hemorrhoids will not be as inflamed and irritated.

A fiber rich source can be found in whole grains, commonly in breads and cereal. If you’d rather not eat wheat and grain products, you can try eating more fresh vegetables instead. Many vegetables, such as kai lan, cabbage, corn, peas and carrots contain some fiber. You also need to ensure that you are sufficiently hydrated. Water can help you treat hemorrhoid symptoms effectivly. You should drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day. You can also try drinking fruit juice and other healthy drinks as well. Although you can drink caffeinated drinks, such as tea, coffee or soda pop, you should be careful. Caffeine will dehydrate you faster, so you need to drink more water to make up the difference.

Eating healthily and staying hydrated can also help in other areas of your health as well. You also need to find ways to reduce your stress levels for disease prevention. So, if you want to treat , gain more energy and feel generally healthier, changing your diet is a good place to start.
