Here are some herbal remedies for [tag-tec]kidney infections[/tag-tec]:

1. Garlic. Not just a recipe ingredient, garlic is a medicinal herb that can be safely taken. Its only drawback is its pungent smell, so you may want to wash your mouth after eating raw or cooked garlic.

Garlic contains a substance called Allicin, which has anti-bacterial properties that are equivalent to a weak penicillin. Its anti bacterial and anti viral benefits make it a suitable herbal remedy for kidney and bladder infections, as well as for de-worming and in the treatment of high blood pressure, cancer of the stomach and wounds.
To make a home remedy garlic tincture, simply soak 1/4 pound of peeled and separated garlic cloves in 1/2 quart of brandy. Seal tightly in a bottle and shake it every day. Strain and bottle after two weeks of this, and take in drops - 25-30 a day, if desired.

2. Goldenrod. Goldenrod has been used as a medicinal herbal remedy to treat a variety of ailments, including kidney stones, urinary tract infections, bladder inflammation, digestive problems, colds and flu, laryngitis, fatigue, and also hay fever.

You can make tea out of the leaves of Goldenrod (called Blue Mountain Tea) for treatment. Although contraindications are few for Goldenrod, those who are pregnant or have serious heart problems should steer clear. Do check with your doctor about having this herbal remedy for kidney infection before use.

3. Hydrangea. Hydrangea is better known as a treatment for enlarged or inflamed prostate glands, and is often combined with Horsetail for this purpose. However, it is also effective as a herbal remedy for kidny infections. Naturopathic doctors recommend this herb as it is known to be able to reduce the size of kidney stones.

The root is the part of the Hydrangea plant that is used for medicinal purposes. It is best dug in the fall and then combine with honey to be used as a syrup. You can of course seep the root in hot water and then drunk later as a tea.

4. Parsley. Parsley teas have traditionally been used as a herbal remedy for kidney infection. Its roots appear to be more effective than its roots. However, leaves can also be used. The leaves of the parsley plant is chlorophyll-rich and a natural breath sweetener. You can eat the leaves right off the plant to combat breath odors. Pregnant women should avoid eating large quantities of parsley because it can be irritating to the kidneys.

5. Uva Usi. Consumed internally as a tea or infusion , Uva Ursi is helpful for relieving ailments such as kidney infections, prostate inflammation and enlargement, bladder infections, kidney stones, nephritis, urinary tract infections, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, pancreas, and small intestine disorders. For females, you can use this herbal remedy for dysmenorrhea, cystitis, and bloating associated with menstruation. Additionally, uva ursi is also sometimes used as a tonic, detoxifying the urinary system and improving your overall health.

Uva Usi should not be taken for longer than a week as an overdose can cause nausea, vomitting and stomach ache. Also, do not use if pregnant, as this herb is a uterine stimulant. Avoid usage in cases of high blood pressure or for children under 12.
