Many people now swear by the benefits of a raw food detox diet. For this diet, only uncooked foos is consumed; hence you should be getting 100 percent of the available nutrition. Conversely, if you have cooked the same food, you would have lost up to 85 percent of the original nutritional value.

Raw food detox diet provides enzymes that help digest your food. Living foods not exposed to temperatures above 116 degrees Fahrenheit have their enzymes intact. If enzymes are absent, it just means that your body has to work harder to digest your meals. Enzyme-rich foods give you a more realistic and efficient energy source. They rapidly break down in our stomach, providing energy and nutrition instantly.

When you go on a raw food detox diet, you will find yourself filled with energy. Why you get the surge in energy is because energy that is usually used to digest cooked food is freed up for you to be spent on other activities, when eating raw. You have less need to sleep and rest as you feel rejuvenated.

Many athletes have found that light raw meals give a more sustainable form of energy and improve their performance. Students find that raw food detox diet gives them a more stable blood sugar level, helping them to think more clearly and stay more focused. Eating raw food is also known to enhance your beauty. Most of all, when you eat well you feel good — and feeling good is the essence of life.

It is a good idea to start going on a raw food detox diet gradually, to minimise harsh side effects. Then, slowly work to increase the amount of fresh foods in your cooked food diet. The cleansing process begins and helps flush out old toxins. Greens and fresh fruits are especially effective in pushing debris out of your cells and colon. These two primary raw food sources attune your body to eating more and more raw food.

You would think that if it is the raw food detox diet, you wouldn’t be allowed to eat cooked foods right?

I’ve started going on the for a great many meals and am pleased to see constant improvements in my skin and energy levels. I seize every opportunity to eat raw vegetables for lunch as and when I can; if I’m not meeting someone at a restaurant or if I need not eat the same meals as my kids.

Seeing such improvements, I must admit that it appears tempting to go all the way with the Raw Food Detox Diet; that is no more cooked foods. However, my dilemna is also that I like cooked dishes. (Hey.. Just because I recommend adoping a detox diet on a regular basis, does not mean that I do not enjoy a delicious cooked meal.)

However, reading The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalie Rose has set the record straight for me. She debunked the myth that one can eat only raw food to reap the benefits froma raw food diet. In fact, she claimed that she would not recommend it because this would mean an overly intense detoxification response. Admittedly, a 100% raw food diet is not for everyone. Neither it is for someone who is just starting out.

This makes a lot of sense to me. There are plenty of diets, including various detox diet programs, out there. Of course, going on a detox diet is still necessary because of all the health reasons for doing so. However, whichever one you choose, it is important to find the one that you feel most comfortable with and one you can easily incorporate into your daily life. If you do not want to give up cooked foods, you don’t need to either. Just remember that you still need to eat plenty of raw vegetables and fruits for improved digestion and better health.
