Practise Yoga To Aid In Detoxification
January 16, 2008 | Leave a Comment
There are many benefits that you can get out of practising yoga. Physically, it helps to promote detoxification and has so far proven to be very effective for many disorders.
Yoga is said to be the only activity that massages all the internal organs and glands of the body thoroughly. This also includes the prostate. The stimulation and massage of the body’s organs aids in the removal of toxins from your body, as well as aid in the prevention of diseases.
By gently stretching your muscles and joints, along with the massage of the various organs, you ensure an optimum blood supply to the essential parts of the body. Toxins are flushed out and nourishment is provided. You can enjoy benefits such as delayed ageing, a remarkable zest for life and energy levels are found from yoga.
Yoga can increase your flexibility as it helps you to exercise those joints that are rarely used. It also increases the lubrication of the joints, tendons and ligaments as the well researched positions exercise the different ligaments and tendons of the body.
It also helps you to tone the body’s muscles, especially those that have become flaccid, slothy or weak, by stimulating them repeatedly to shed the excess fat and flaccidity.
These physical benefits are side effects of yoga. Yoga also brings about balance between the mind and the body. The number one killer that affects our physical, endocrinal and emotional systems is stress and this can be corrected through the practise of yoga meditation.

Hot Yoga For Detoxification And Weight Loss
July 31, 2007 | Leave a Comment
I first got introduced to the idea about hot yoga a couple of weeks ago. My husband got wind of it from a flyer that was slotted into our mail box. I then found out that my neighbour who has always been going for yoga classes, now chooses to do hot yoga at least once every week. She has found hot yoga especially good for detoxification and weight loss.
What is hot yoga? Hot yoga is a series of yoga poses done in a room that is heated. The room is usually maintained at a temperature of 95-100 degrees. When doing hot yoga postures, the raised temperature also helps induce profuse sweating which rids the body of toxins. It also tends to make your body warm and more flexible.
This all sounded very appealing to my husband. He has always been reminiscing about the days when he did the yogic headstands without any problems. Upon hearing positive feedback from my neighbour, he signed up to a fitness club that also offers hot yoga classes. I’ve yet to ask him how he found the classes.
